In the wake of the catastrophic flooding that struck Central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend, members of the country music community are stepping forward to support the victims and their families.
On July 4th, flash floods devastated the Hill Country region after the Guadalupe River rose over 20 feet in minutes, sweeping away homes, vehicles, and lives. According to CBS News, as of July 17, the death toll has tragically reached 135—including 27 campers and counselors at Camp Mystic in Kerr County. Dozens remain missing as search and recovery efforts continue.
Country Artists Respond with Action and Heart
In the face of this tragedy, Texas-born country artists and other entertainers are uniting to raise funds and awareness.
Pat Green, whose own family suffered tremendous loss—his younger brother John, John’s wife, and their two children perished in the flood—hosted a virtual benefit concert on July 16. The event raised over $1 million for relief efforts.
George Strait announced a private benefit concert and dinner to be held on July 27. Tickets sold out within days, underscoring the public’s commitment to support affected families.
Robert Earl Keen will host “Applause For The Cause” on August 28, featuring a stellar lineup including Miranda Lambert, Tyler Childers, Jamey Johnson, Aaron Watson, and Cody Jinks, among others.
