After nearly four years of laughter, heartfelt commentary, and memorable Friday nights, Gogglebox favourites Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have officially parted ways with the beloved Channel 4 show — and fans are heartbroken.

The couple, who made history as the first Scottish pair to appear on Gogglebox when they joined in February 2022, revealed they have not been invited back for the upcoming season 26. In an emotional statement shared via TikTok, 26-year-old Roisin confirmed what many fans had feared: Channel 4 has decided not to continue with their participation.

“After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and me to stretch our legs,” she wrote. “We were not asked back for season 26.”

Saying Goodbye to the Gogglebox Family

The announcement marks the end of an era not only for Roisin and Joe, aged 28, but also for many viewers who found comfort in their presence every week. Known for their witty, down-to-earth banter and strong representation of Scottish culture, the couple quickly became household favourites.

“We are leaving the Gogglebox family,” Roisin continued. “We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity — the experience has actually been so mad, and we will miss watching TV with you all on Friday nights.”

She added: “It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”

Gratitude and a Touch of Humour

In a touching tribute to the Gogglebox crew, Roisin thanked the team who worked behind the scenes:

“We have made friends for life. After filming every week for years, you’ve become like our family. We couldn’t have asked for better people to work with, and we will miss you immensely.”

To lighten the mood, the couple also shared a few memes that captured their mixed emotions — including a Toy Story image with villain Sid dropping Woody, representing Channel 4 dropping them from the show. Another meme showed a crying child labeled “Being dumped from Gogglebox,” followed by a photo of actor Anthony Mackie (Captain America) with the caption: “No longer having to adhere to a contract and can work with brands and companies.”

Fans React with Shock and Support

Fans of the show were quick to express their sadness and support in the comment sections across social media. One wrote, “Loved you & Joe on Gogglebox. It won’t be the same without you.” Another exclaimed, “NOOOOOOOOOOO! I just fell to the floor in Asda.”

Others thanked the couple for representing Scotland with pride, with one comment reading: “Awww no! I will miss you guys flying the flag for Scotland.”

What’s Next for Roisin and Joe?

While the decision has undoubtedly left many disappointed, Roisin hinted at a silver lining — more freedom for the couple to pursue opportunities outside the show. Their departure may open the door to brand collaborations, media projects, or perhaps even a return to screens in a new format.

“It for sure has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Roisin concluded. “Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already. — Roisin and Joe xx.”

As Gogglebox heads into its next chapter, fans will no doubt feel the absence of Roisin and Joe’s charm and authenticity — but one thing is clear: their legacy on the sofa will not be forgotten.
