Trump and Homan Crack Down on Illegal Alien Crime After Major ICE Bust
Former President Donald Trump and his immigration enforcement advisor, Tom Homan, are ramping up efforts to combat illegal alien crime, with a recent high-profile operation underscoring the scale of the issue under President Joe Biden’s administration.
On Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that 18 individuals—described as criminal illegal aliens—have been charged as a result of a large-scale identity theft investigation involving multiple federal and local agencies.
“Each defendant has been charged with aggravated identity theft, misuse of Social Security numbers, and making false statements regarding citizenship to gain unlawful employment,” ICE said in a press release. “If convicted on all counts, each faces a minimum sentence of two years and up to 12 years in federal prison.”
The individuals indicted, mostly from Honduras and Guatemala, were listed with specific charges and indictment dates. Notably:
-
Luvin Daniel Hernandez Amador (Honduras) – indicted Feb. 27, 2025
-
Elvin Donahel Hernandez Amador (Honduras) – indicted Dec. 17, 2024
-
Elmer Modesto Amador (Honduras) – indicted Oct. 1, 2024
-
…and others, including multiple individuals who have already pleaded guilty or are awaiting trial.
The investigation was a coordinated effort involving ICE Homeland Security Investigations in Tampa, the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Border Patrol, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Labor, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Prosecution is being led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karyna Valdes and Christopher F. Murray, along with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Wheeler III.
Tom Homan, former acting ICE director under Trump, issued a sharp warning in February to criminal aliens and sanctuary jurisdictions, pledging that the new administration would take an uncompromising stance on illegal immigration and associated crime.
“Every gang member, every criminal alien, every member of the Tren de Aragua—we’re coming for you,” Homan declared at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). “We’ll send your ass to Gitmo where you belong.”
He added that the Biden administration had allowed the problem to grow, citing an alarming number of daily border “gotaways”—illegal immigrants who evade capture—under Biden. Homan boasted that during Trump’s return to office, those numbers had dropped by 95%, from 1,800 per day in 2023 to just 48 in a recent count.
While he acknowledged improvement, he emphasized that “48 is still too many. I won’t be satisfied until that number is zero.”
Homan also highlighted ICE’s aggressive enforcement during Trump’s first month in office, stating that agents arrested over 21,000 illegal aliens during that time.
He took direct aim at violent transnational criminal organizations like Tren de Aragua and MS-13, recently designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the Trump administration.
“You’ve killed more Americans than any other terrorist group in history. We’re not just deporting you—we’re treating you like the terrorists you are,” he said. “And anyone who helps you—whether selling your drugs or covering for your crimes—will be treated as part of a terrorist organization.”
As Trump and his team continue to place immigration enforcement at the center of their political agenda, the administration’s tone has become increasingly firm—especially toward cities and states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
